New DER technical requirements for consultation

We’re working easier installers and businesses to connect larger-sized systems to the benefits of solar and battery. That's why we're pleased to announce Horizon Power’s LV Technical Requirements are changing from 16 March 2026. 

Industry consultation will run until from the 25 February to 13 March 2026.

Key changes to Low Voltage EG requirements

We're making it easier to connect larger-sized solar and battery systems to our network.

Updated and simplified renewable smoothing requirements

Standard batteries that meet new minimum technical standards, will be will be enough to meet the requirements. Making it easier for installers.

Compatible inverters can connect directly to Secure Gateway Device

In addition to the existing approach via a PLC control interface.

Changes to Low Voltage application fees and charges

This includes the removal of Solar Smoothing witness testing charges and reduced DER Management fees - down from $13,300 to $6,600 (plus GST).
