How much you owe and when payment is due
On the front of your bill, the Account summary includes any credits or outstanding amounts from the previous bill period, plus new charges incurred this bill period.
These charges are itemised in more detail on the back of your bill.
-
Your meter reading and how much energy you used
On the back of your bill, the Usage calculations list the tariff applied to your account, the date your meter was read, and how much energy you used this period.
- Your Tariff determines the rate you pay for each unit of electricity used.
- Equals total units used is the number of kW units of energy used since your last bill.
In this example, the customer is on the A2 Residential tariff (the most common tariff for residential customers) and they used 1,544 units of energy this bill period.
If you have rooftop solar and receive Renewable Energy Buyback, any excess solar your system sends back to the grid will display here. In this example, 517 units of energy were exported.

A closer look at your energy charges
On the back of your bill, we've itemised each charge so you can see exactly how we've calculated the total amount owing.
The Total is how much you currently owe. It combines any Balance Brought Forward from your previous bill with the new charges from This bill.
In the example provided, the customer has an Overdue amount of $578.34 from their last bill and the current bill is $442.08.
So, the Total owing is $578.34 + $442.08 = $1020.42
The Total owing includes GST, and for your convenience, we've shown how much GST is included as a separate line item.

Start by comparing your usage over time
The Consumption Comparison graph on the front of your bill shows your household’s average daily energy use so you can see how it compares to your previous bill and the same period last year – it’s a great way to see how you’re tracking.
It includes the average number of kilowatt hours (kWh) you have used each day and your average electricity costs each day.
This is based on your average daily use, your tariff and the number of days in this billing period.
For a more detailed view, log in to MyAccount. You can view and compare your daily, weekly, monthly and yearly energy use over time and see how you're tracking before your next bill arrives.
